Make National Indoor Comfort Week "special" by hosting "special events." Here are some ideas to help you brainstorm -- things you can do by yourself, with other contractors in your area, or even with non-HVACR companies and organizations. (Got a good idea you'd like to share? Send it to kimya.cajchun@acca.org.)
Conduct workshops for consumers
You might be able to partner with a local vo-tech school or adult learning center on this. Pick topics that are of interest to homeowners, like "What's That Sound?" (maintenance you can do yourself, and maintenance you need a pro for) or "What's That Smell?" (mold prevention).
Discount Coupons
It almost goes without saying, but offer special discount coupons in conjunction with National Indoor Comfort Week. Perhaps discounts on check-ups, inspections, labor if needed.
School Visits
Talk to guidance counselors and administrators in local schools about possible school programs. You can talk about "What I Do for a Living" (don't forget to bring small, fun giveaways) or offer to host a field trip.
Student Essay Contest
Partner with a school (or a local newspaper) to sponsor a student essay contest. Possible topics include "What Life Would Be Like Without Air Conditioning" or similar ideas.
Customer Appreciation
Include your existing customers in National Indoor Comfort Week. Send them a letter telling them about this special week and its celebration of the HVACR industry, and offer them an exclusive thank-you special or gift.
Technician Appreciation
Don't forget that National Indoor Comfort Week is also a time to say thank-you to our technicians. This is a great time to host a special event for your employees, or send a letter or gift home (be sure to include spouses and significant others) offering your appreciation for the hard work all your employees do.
Now, it's your turn: What special ideas or events can you come up with to make National Indoor Comfort Week something special? Remember to let us know what you have planned by emailing kimya.cajchun@acca.org.
