Spread the word in your local community about National Indoor Comfort Week. You'll want to check with your local ACCA chapter or other organizations to make sure you're not duplicating efforts. We've developed some sample press releases you can use as models, but remember to customize them and change them for your own purposes. Also, if you are planning any special events, remember to write and distribute press releases before (if it's a public event) or after. (Note: do not send press releases about product or service discounts you are offering; those should be included in advertising, not news.)
Dealing with the Press
Before you use these press releases or write one of your own, follow these tips.
Sample Press Releases
These sample releases are in Microsoft Word format. You won't want to use all of these, and remember to customize them. They are a good model base for you to build on!
Public Radio Announcements
In some cases, local radio stations may be willing to help you produce public service announcements for use doing National Indoor Comfort Week (especially if you're a regular advertiser with them). Contact them and see if it's possible. We've included some sample radio public service announcements here.
After the Event ...
After National Indoor Comfort Week, remember to send pictures of any events you sponsor to your community paper. Remember to write a press release about your event, and don't forget to include a caption for any pictures that includes the names of the people involved.
Send Us Copies!
Don't forget to send us copies of any press you generate! You can email to kimya.cajchun@acca.org or send by "snail mail" to:
