Official Proclamations

Another idea (which will also help you get some local press) is to ask local officials to issue an official proclamation for National Indoor Comfort Week. Each municipality, county, and state has different rules and procedures for this sort of thing, but generally you start by contacting the mayor, governor, or your city councilman.

Remember to first check with your local ACCA chapter or other organization, if there is one, to see if they are working on this so you do not duplicate efforts.

Letter to Elected Officials
Here's a sample letter, in Microsoft Word format, for contacting your local elected officials. It also includes sample wording for the proclamation itself.

After the Proclamation Is Issued
If you're successful in getting a proclamation issued, don't forget to send a press release out to your local media with a copy of it. (And also, please let us know that it was issued by emailingkimya.cajchun@acca.org.)
